In 2009, twelve Simon & Schuster titles were named New York Times "Notable Books of the Year", and three books, Half Broke Horses by Jeanette Walls, A Short History of Women by Kate Walbert in fiction, and Raymond Carver: A Life by Carole Sklenica were selected for the "10 Best Books of 2009 list."
In 2009 Al Gore’s An Inconvenient Truth won the Grammy Award for “Best Spoken Word Album. Carrie Fisher’s Wishful Drinking and Jimmy Carter’s We Can Have Peace in the Holy Land are finalists for the 2010 Grammy.
On April 27, 2008, Simon & Schuster set a company single-week record with 31 simultaneous New York Times bestsellers.
In all, Simon & Schuster titles have received 54 Pulitzer Prizes, 15 National Book Awards, 14 Caldecott and 19 Newbery Medals. In 2007, Simon & Schuster partnered with TurnHere to launch the bookvideos.tv internet channel, becoming the first publisher to systematically employ internet videos as a means of marketing our books and authors.
